Para reitor da USP, denunciar estupro é "ação inquisitória"

Enquanto centros acadêmicos, movimentos sociais, coletivos e até a Assembleia Legislativa do Estado de São Paulo (Alesp) se mobilizam para amparar as vítimas, colher denúncias e promover debates acerca dos recentes casos relatados de estupros e violações de direitos humanos na Universidade de São Paulo (USP), a reitoria prefere minimizar o problema, classificando as denúncias como ações “inquisitórias” e “purificadoras”.
A definição partiu do próprio reitor Marco Antonio Zago, na última reunião do Conselho Universitário do ano, realizada na última terça-feira (9). Depois de anunciar o corte orçamentário de 30% para o ano que vem, Zago introduziu a pauta das denúncias, mas optou por criticar as próprias pessoas vítimas ao invés de centrar suas críticas aos agressores.
“São casos isolados de alguns (…) A USP não irá, como querem alguns, promover autos-de-fé (…) As denúncias são ações inquisitórias e purificadoras”, afirmou.
O relato partiu de quatro representantes discentes, alunas da graduação, que estiveram presentes na reunião. Segundo elas, professores e diretores que também estavam no encontro tiraram sarro das alunas nos momentos em que tinham a fala e um deles, inclusive, teria depositado a culpa dos relatos de violência no Diretório Central dos Estudantes (DCE) e no movimento estudantil. “Uma menina de calcinha no trote é um passo para o estupro”, disse. 
Em sua fala, a representante discente Gabriela Ferro afirmou que alguns diretores vêm omitindo os casos de violações de direitos. Um diretor da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto, então, em tom provocativo, teria feito piada e perguntado se estava incluído entre eles.
De acordo com as estudantes, entre pouco caso e piadas – um dos professores ainda teria filmado, através de um celular, a fala de uma delas para constrangê-la – o ápice da reunião teria sido quando o reitor Zago protagonizou um ataque moral contra uma das alunas.
“Após o pronunciamento de uma das RDs sobre o tema orçamentário, Zago simplesmente não reconheceu a legitimidade dos argumentos apresentados e, de modo arbitrário e autoritário, diante de todo conselho, ordenou que a mesma voltasse ao microfone e se retratasse, posto que o reitor discordava de seus argumentos. Ao tomar a palavra, a RD imediatamente foi interrompida pelo reitor, que gritava repetidas vezes, em altíssimo tom de voz: ‘você é incapaz de me responder’, ‘você é incapaz de me responder’”, afirmou a representante discente, aluna de Nutrição, Vanessa Couto.
A USP, até o momento, não se pronunciou em relação ao relato das alunas. Em nota publicada no dia da reunião, no site da instituição, o reitor Zago apenas afirma que “a Universidade de São Paulo é detentora de respeitável história no campo da defesa dos direitos individuais e sociais” e reforça sua fala da reunião: “Ações isoladas de alguns, sejam estudantes, docentes ou servidores, não desviarão a USP do seu papel de baluarte na defesa dos direitos humanos, o que não significa promover autos de fé, como querem alguns: todos sabem aonde levam ações inquisitoriais e purificadoras”.

For USP's dean, reporting rape is "inquisitorial action"

While academic centers, social and collective movements, and the  State of São Paulo Legislative Assembly* (Alesp) mobilize to protect the victims, collect complaints and promote discussions about recent reports of rape and human rights violations at the University of Sao Paulo (USP), the rectory prefers to minimize the problem, labelling complaints as "inquisitorial" and "cleansing" actions.

The definition came from dean Marco Antonio Zago, at the University's Council last meeting of the year, held last Tuesday (December 9th). After announcing the budget cut of 30% for the next year, Zago introduced the agenda of the complaints, but chose to criticize the victims, rather than focus his criticism on the aggressors.

"These are isolated cases of a few (...)  USP will not, as a few people want, promote autos-de-fé ** (...) Complaints are inquisitorial and purifying actions," he said.

The report came from four student's representatives, all graduate students, who attended the meeting. According to them, teachers and principals who were also at the meeting made fun of the students at times everytime they had to speak and one of them even put the blame for violence reports on the Students' Union (DCE) and the student's movement. "A girl in panties  is a step to rape," he said.

In his speech, the student representative Gabriela Iron said some principals have been passing over cases of human rights violations. A director of Ribeirão Preto Medical School, then in provocative tone, would have made a joke and asked if he was included among them.

According to the students, disdain and jokes - one of the teachers would have shot on his mobile the speech of one of them in order to embarrass her - the meeting's apex would have been when Zago, the Dean, starred a moral agression on one of the students.

"After the pronouncement of one of the student's representatives on the budget issue, Zago simply did not recognize the legitimacy of her arguments and, before the whole council, in an arbitrary and authoritarian manner, ordered her to return to the microphone and retract , since the dean disagreed with her arguments. Taking the floor, the student's representative was immediately interrupted by the rector, who repeatedly shouted at very high voice, 'you are unable to answer me', 'you are unable to answer me,' "said the student's representative, student of Nutrition, Vanessa Couto.

USP has not yet reacted on the account of the students' report. In a statement published on the meeting's day, on USP's website, dean Zago only states that "the University of São Paulo holds respectable history in the defense of individual and social rights" and reinforces his speech on the meeting: "Isolated actions of a  few, be they students, teachers or servers, shall not divert  USP from its role as a bulwark in defense of human rights, which does not mean promoting autos de fé, as some people want: everyone knows where inquisitorial and purifying action lead to. "
